Grilled Whole Red Snapper

Grilling whole red snapper is a wonderful fish cooking technique that allows for a beautiful presentation on the plate. Many cooks prefer their fish grilled due to the flavor profiles that can be created in the fish. See below for excellent ways to treat, prepare and cook your snapper.

General Ingredients and Fish Grilling Technique:

When you are grilling any number of fish species, there are general techniques you can follow to get you close to an excellent dish. From there, you can experiment and fine tune the aromatics, spices, seasonings, flavorings and 'secret' ingredients that make your whole snapper recipe moist, juicy and delicious.

When working with a whole fish, it is important to make sure that the fish is first properly cleaned and prepped for cooking.

  1. Make sure the innards and scales are removed.
  2. Make some diagonal scoring marks through the skin and fillet meat.
  3. Stuff the scoring marks and insides with aromatics, seasonings and spices.

Some of the ingredients you may want to use:

  • fresh thyme
  • rosemary
  • salt and pepper
  • aromatics
  • lemon slices
  • chives
  • scallions
  • cajun seasoning

When grilling, you can place the fish directly on the grill or wrap in foil. It depends upon your desired result.
